MSA have joined The Smith Family in supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing opportunities and inspiration on career education to help them transition into the workforce.
We ran a demonstration for youth in the Macarthur region that explored the careers that existed within the manufacturing industry, with the aim to also encourage other industry associations to run their own Work Inspiration program.
The Macarthur Industry Engagement, Manufacturing Work Inspiration Program was run from 21 – 25 July 2014 with 16 lucky students from Airds and Eagle Vale High Schools selected to take part and explore career journeys within the manufacturing sector. Some of the highlights of the program include:
- site tours to five different manufacturing enterprises
- ‘try a trade’ activities
- conducting meaningful career conversations with employees
- presentations from associations and member organisations
- a visit to the Powerhouse Museum.
Founding partners of the Work Inspiration Program include The Smith Family, Foundation for Young Australians and NAB.
