    143 views 3 weeks ago
Flowers for Kazuo Ohno (and Leonard Cohen) is a poignant and spirited homage to the legendary Japanese Butoh dancer and the iconic Canadian artist by Colombia’s most avant garde contemporary dance company, Compañía del Cuerpo de Indias.

Set to some of Cohen’s greatest and most transformative works and elevated by choreography inspired by the passionate and subtle movements of Ohno, Flowers for Kazuo Ohno (and Leonard Cohen) captivates, inspires and sweeps audiences away, one beautiful and exhilarating tableau at a time. Cohen and Ohno are connected as artists through their mutual admiration for the Andalusian poet and playwright Federico García Lorca. Ohno’s most famous work, Admiring La Argentina, was inspired by Lorca’s muse, the flamenco dancer Antonia Mercé, while Cohen, a dedicated disciple, wrote songs and poems that were heavily influenced by Lorca’s poetry.
