this summer i've been reading lots of marshall mcluhan. i started cutting up parts of a movie he did in the late sixties to use for a video projection collaboration I'm working on. the editing process gave me lots of time to think about the movie, so i sorta started cutting it together with some visuals i made with some of mcluhan's ideas in mind.

mcluhan talks about how media contain each other– books contain text, movies contain images... computers contain all media. they are meta-media, technology of representation and signification. he talks about the challenges and necessity of practicing awareness of the effects of media

if you have some time, check out the movie i stole all this footage from! https://www.youtube.com/wat...... it's a great primer on mcluhan's way of thinking.

also, check out contour, whose track "Girl Sitting Next to Me at the Bus Stop" i used. Album is name-yr-price on bandcamp https://ar-contour.bandcamp......

other visuals made using resolume arena 4's default effects mixed and matched on the fly using a midi fighter twister

I really would like to incorporate these kinds of visuals into future projects as like interstitial content between vlog subjects! Show less
