La Vie En Rose ushers in 2017 with its second compilation, the aptly-titled Fear Of A Rose Planet. Compiled and curated by label boss Terence:Terry:, this collection of eight smooth grooves comes from a variety of artists and represents the label’s ultra deep side with a serenity and ambience pervading throughout the music. A year and a half since their first comp, Deeper Than Rose, dropped, the French label unveils another hot selection of fresh jams from a cast of international talents.

In an age where the powers-that-be seem intent on making the world a darker place, Fear Of A Rose Planet feels like a fitting title for a selection of music that has beauty, and a sense of optimism, at its core. The title, inspired by Public Enemy’s classic album, also represents the international lineup of contributors to this landmark compilation. Nations repped include Greece, Colombia, Chile, Ukraine, Russia, Montpellier, New York, France… all of whom come together to form ‘Planet Rose’.

Fear Of A Rose Planet also features a rare classic by British legend Baby Ford. This timeless beauty works perfectly alongside the contemporary cuts on the compilation evoking the mood of a bygone era and, perhaps, an insight into how our future might sound.

The depth of sound is evident right from get go as we’re eased into a laid back ride courtesy of Liou with ‘Birdcall’. Deep bassline penetrate the recesses of your mind while exuberant pads whisk you off to a distant paradise. LYE steps up next with ‘Delta88’, a more sprightly production which works off skippy percussion and warm, soothing keys – the atmosphere is animated and cosmic with lots of bleeps and chirps keeping things engaging. Next up is ‘Vae Victis’ by Frisky Business, who is the captain of an absorbing journey into the cosmos. Stick the needle on this wonderful groover and let it take you away, up to the stars and beyond. Camilo Gil & Øne + 1 then give us ‘Mood On 4’, a delicate downtempo cut with soft keys, a sombre, groaning bassline and languid drums. It’s the perfect track to wind down to, full of LVR flavour and sampling old NASA recordings to keep in with the intergalactic feel of the other tracks on the compilation.

Anton Bajen’s ‘Lakmus’ is an enchanting ditty, with tribal chants buried in the background and an authentic sounding melody which also feels indigenous. Bronxy & Gorbani up the ante a little with their track, one of the tougher cuts on the compilation. ‘Swamp’ has more pace and more punch but still features a calming set of pads and a soothing b-line. Next up is Baby Ford’s remix of Dj Sonic (Paris Veteran), which splices a gruff analogue low end with dreamlike swathes of synth, giving it a timeless appeal. Last up it’s ‘Month-Weeks-Days’ by Caceress, a bouncy, high-energy way to close out the release. Clever snappy beats are placed under bubbling bass and timid pads, which grow in stature as the track progresses, eventually punctuating a short breakdown.

Across eight tracks La Vie En Rose demonstrates why it’s one of the foremost labels within the contemporary, avant-garde scene. Keeping things strictly on the deep tip, while also injecting verve and a positive vibe into all the music they select, Fear Of A Rose Planet is an essential release for fans of the label and newcomers, too.

    Viva La Vie En Rose!

  • Terence :Terry: presents "Coney Island" Play all

After four years and 20 releases, Terence :Terry: delivers his second solo EP on his own label, La Vie En Rose. The Paris maestro, who is currently based in Madrid, has been hard at work in the studio to produce this brand new three-tracker entitled ‘Coney Island’ and all three tracks work as a perfect representation of his deep, sultry and hypnotic sound.

‘Zipolite’ gets things off to a typically groovy start, with snappy percussion and a robotic vocal ….. the intro. It’s not long before a mesmerising bassline creeps in and Terence uses numerous effects to create depth and atmosphere. Strange voices lurk in the background and bright pads swirl around the top line. As the track progresses more layers suck you deeper into the abyss.

Up next we have ‘Nugati’, a chilled trip into dreamland. Throughout the track, a high-pitched, twinkling melody creates an air of mystery, while its deadly b-line does a seductive dance with the cutting percussion. This one strikes a great balance between sweetness and raw groove.

Last up, we have the title track ‘Coney Island’, which works around hard-hitting hats and claps. Thick, solid bass rubs up against smooth pads and cosmic bleeps – while hip-hop vocal clips drop in every few bars to add that all-important hook. Like the other two tracks on this EP, ‘Coney Island’ progresses in a subtle and engrossing manner, keeping you hooked all the way until the end.

Terence :Terry: has got the funk no doubt, and this EP is a testament to more than 20 years spent on the road, in the studio and in the club. Wicked vibes

  • Acid Mondays "Garaldo" Ep Inc John Dimas Rmx Play all

La Vie En Rose commences its 2016 campaign with a tight little package from the delirious Ibiza dwelling duo, Acid Mondays. The British lads are well known for their ability to concoct deadly dance floor weaponary for labels such as Rumors, Illusion, One Records and 2020Vision among others and now they’re back on the French label with two hot new tracks plus a remix from Greek grafter John Dimas.

Lead track ‘Garaldo’ is a heady stepper with warped, galactic vocal snippets, glowing FX and a killer bassline. Coming in at just over 10 minutes, it’s a trip into the deepest recesses of Acid Mondays cosmic craniums. Lola ED family member John Dimas weighs in with his reinterpretation of ‘Garaldo’, putting the original on a diet and cultivating a slimline, though equally effective version of the track. His delicate use of twinkling melodies, barely there vocals and skippy percussion gives us a whole new piece of music, which is wonderfully restrained.

On the flip, ‘Machette’ lives up to its name, with the percussion slicing and dicing its way through a gnarly bassline and bubbling toms. As the track progresses, the pace picks up and we’re gripped by its superglue-esque groove. A trippy breakdown around the five-minute mark is the icing on the cake. Super!

  • Sarko "Everybody Dies Young" inc LYE Rmx Play all

Music allows us to meet new people and share our feelings and emotions regardless of the time, the place, the situation… it’s all about sharing this common sensation.

We’ve wanted this guy on the Mothership for a long time now and we are very proud to finally welcome the native Mexican Edgar Alonso, known as Sakro, aboard La Vie En Rose.

With music already signed to labels such as Father & Sons, House Wax, Housework and Amam, Sakro has had his killer tracks played by industry heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobosm Zip and Raresh to name but a few.

A product of Mexico’s young generation of ‘new house’ lovers and protagonists, Edgar is a true champion of US house flavours, splicing his sound with influences from the three cities where the foundations of our culture were formed; Chicago, New york and Detroit.

This EP contains three original Sakro productions and includes a remix from strong new trio from the south of France LYE (Loquace with Yamen & Eda).

‘Everybody Dies Young’ is exactly what we are talking about; a true vintage house rhythm with swing and groovy snares mixed over a dark backdrop that gives you this feeling of magic and mystery. An eerie delight for the early morning hours, when things get weird…

‘Genesis; is more dubby and mysterious with a heavy house beat and sub bass, stirring up an atmosphere reminiscent of that found in the productions of some of Romania’s finest. A secret weapon for any DJ who wants something to drop something dangerous on an unsuspecting dance floor.

The third track is the product of a collaboration between Edgar and Mike Montaño, called ‘Mood Swinger’. A killer house tune which has Strictly Rhythm embedded in its DNA. It works off a vintage beat together with futuristic pads and an air of intrigue which pervades throughout.

To close out the EP, French trio LYE delivered a peak hour remix of ‘Everybody Dies Young’ with an infectious loop and sultry bass line combined with elements from the original, adding some harmony over the top. Killer.
