The Faculty of Arts and Social Science offers a diverse, flexible combination of social sciences (Economics, Politics, Law, Psychology, Criminology and Sociology), performing arts (Dance, Drama and Music), humanities (Creative Writing, English, History, Philosophy), media and communications, journalism and publishing. The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing offers an innovative learning environment ith a wealth of high tech equipment. Engineering facilities include: a full-size wind tunnel for testing student-designed prototypes such as parachutes, water speed vehicles and motorbikes; a flight simulator which allows students to enter their design and virtually ‘fly’ their aircraft, 3D printers and a drop tower, one of only a few in the world, which enables students to conduct experiments in a near-zero gravity environment.
Our students participate in the annual Formula E Student competition, Europe’s most high profile educational motorsport competition, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Our alumni include Jonathan Asherson OBE, regional director SE Asia, Rolls-Royce; Brian O’Rourke CEng, MRAeS, FIMechE, MIMMM, chief composites engineer, Williams F1 Engineering Ltd and Malcolm A H Brown, president of the Geological Society of London.
