The Karmapa Documentary Project
A multimedia biography of Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa.

Founded after H.H. Karmapa left Tibet in 1994, the project began with The Return of the Karmapa, documenting his arrival in India. Further films followed, portraying his education at KIBI, travels, and teachings, including The 17th Gyalwa Karmapa – Years of His Youth (1998) and The Karmapa – From Youth to Mastery (2018). Since 2004, it has officially served as a living archive, preserving over 1,000 hours of film and tens of thousands of photos.

Run by the non-profit Vienna Dharma Projects in Austria, the work continues through voluntary effort and donations from Dharma friends worldwide.
