So Far, So Good... So What! Era MEGADETH Guitarist, Releases Hendrixy Beatles Remake Playthrough Music Video
For Immediate Release (Nov 8 - New York, NY): "If Jimi Hendrix had recorded George Harrison's "Something", what would it sound like?" Find out November 11, 2019 when Jeff Young - the former guitarist with Megadeth (USA) & Badi Assad (Brazil), releases the first instrumental music video of his career.
The forthcoming "guerrilla-style" music video is the culmination of several years practice, live performance & honing a daunting Guthrie Govan (The Aristocrats), instrumental arrangement of the Abbey Road LP classic, Young found in an old guitar tuition magazine.
Young: "The Beatles '65 was the first album my parents ever bought me and Hendrix has, of course, influenced all of us guitarists so, this arrangement really spoke to me. I was unable to find a performance of Guthrie playing the song live so, I worked with the written score for some time. Each measure of the piece is unique in that, there are no lines repeated or played the same way twice, more akin to a classical or jazz approach. I remember being in the backseat, on tour with the sheet music and guitar on my lap, crawling through 'the beast' measure by measure. It was challenging fun and I feel it's critical to keep searching out new & diverse learning avenues - no matter how many years you've been playing."
Young recorded the guitars and filmed some of the video footage back in his home-town of Dayton, Ohio at Refraze Studios - a hidden gem in the mid-west that has hosted projects ranging from The Ohio Players, Goo Goo Dolls to the film production of the Don Cheadle Miles Davies bio-pic, Miles Ahead. The remainder of the music video was filmed in Young's new home city of New York, along The Hudson River and featuring the Big Apple skyline.
"Something" represents the first, in what promises to be an eclectic line of instrumental songs and a new all instrumental album from the platinum selling musician, songwriter & producer. Young's next original instrumental singles, "In the Flesh", "Wave Rider" and "Slow Burn" will be dropping over the next few months on Hi-Tone Eleven Records, distributed via independent record retailer, cdbaby.
