    Lyrics:

    I knew a girl once,
    Cleverer than I.
    Had wit and pith, always,
    Cleverer than I.
She had a mastery of written things,
Wrote fancy words of queens and kings,
    And castles perched up high.

Yet where she was her wings were clipped,
Her words were censored, writing slipped,
What once was beauty now was stripped,
From the books she’d written, pages ripped.

Yet I heard from her again today,
I heard that she’d now found her way…

    I met a girl once,
    Nerdier than I.
    A master of silicon,
    With a twenty-sided die.
Her screens were full of error codes,
    Of APKs and Blender nodes.
    And claims to verify.

Yet where she was her dreams were shattered,
No time at all, her mind felt scattered.
    A collection of unfinished plans,
    Fallen victim to other’s demands.

Yet I heard from her again today,
I heard that she’d now found her way...

They went away to a place they’d ·· heard of so they could feel,
What it's like in their own shoes, something real.
To a place they could have their own face and make things of their own,
They could change, learn, and grow, nothing set in stone

    I loved a girl once,
    More passionate than I.
    She rose to challenging problems,
    Solving more than I.
It was clear she was a visionary,
Of leading she was never wary,
Her passion, soul would never vary,
    Nothing left imaginary.

Yet where she was all time felt slow,
    Her motivation sank far below,
    Disappointed, cold regret,
Her potential left so far from met

Yet I heard from her again today,
I heard that she’d now found her way...

    I knew someone once,
    More rhythmic than I.
    Head full of notes, always,
    More tuneful than I.
They filled the room with warmth and song,
    Weaved joy into the soul.
Their voice was like a beacon shining,
And none could take their role.

Yet where they were their voice was muffled.
In deaf’ning silence their words were stifled,
Their instruments locked up and tuneless
Their hopes and dreams like trees now fruitless.

Yet I heard from them again today,
I heard that they’d now found their way...

They went away to a place they’d heard of so they could feel,
What it's like in the own shoes, something real.
To a place they could have their own face and make things of their own,
They could change, learn, and grow, nothing set in stone Show less
