Each of us has a calm joyful center, deep within. It may get lost in the hectic pace of life today, but it is there, waiting patiently for us. Sunday worship helps us get back in touch with that center once again—whether it be called the soul, the Self, or God.
Nayaswami Asha gives services most Sundays at Ananda Palo Alto with her characteristic clarity, wisdom, and humor.
The Sunday worship service at Ananda is inspired by the meditation tradition of the East and the ancient teachings of mystical Christianity, with inspirational readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita.
Here we have posted Asha's sermon only. But if you wish, you may watch a live streaming service ( http://www.anandapaloalto.org/joy/SS-Live.html ). any Sunday at 10 am PST. Service includes music, group chanting and meditation, an inspirational talk drawn from the writings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and a unique blessing ceremony called the Festival of Light.
Nayaswami Asha takes us on the journey into the past, making it very much alive and present. In particular, her stories of the life of Jesus help us to feel as if we, ourselves, are there. She helps us perceive how the lessons and the challenges faced by him, and especially by his disciples, are deeply relevant to spiritual seekers today. Asha helps us celebrate and honor the sacred gift of holidays — an especially powerful time for communion with the Divine. (Easter, Christmas, New Year's, and more)
