Giraffage had come to NYC and I was itchy to shoot. We couldn't find a location so I asked him about his hotel room and he said, not wanting to be rude, "Yeah, we could do that, but it's uh--too small." Turns out hotel isn't the right word for where he was staying; more like a cross between third-world debtor's prison and a dorm room. One Wednesday afternoon we huddled in unpacking gear from our backpacks and laid down a six song set. The room was so small, a thirteen year old child could touch both sides of the wall at once. The ceilings were chicken wires, and some dude was grunting in the room next to us.
