Emily Carr is currently shining in the global art spotlight on the heels of an exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, England and now on view at the AGO. Carr stars in yet another Heffel auction with seven works on offer. Leading the spring auction was the rare mature-period canvas, Forest Light. The painting had not been available for sale since its original acquisition from the artist in 1937 by philanthropist and well-known art collector, J.S. McLean. The painting sold for $1,300,000 hammer price which is $1,534,000 CAD (including the 18% Buyer's Premium).
