Water is vital to Minnesota's quality of life, today and tomorrow. We must protect and conserve our water sources to sustain life, grow our food, and enjoy for outdoor activities.

We have already polluted nearly half of our surface water - our lakes, rivers and streams. We must act now to clean up and protect our lakes, rivers and streams from further degradation.

Parts of Minnesota are already experiencing shortages of usable ground water. Are we drawing down our "bank account" of ground water - the underground reservoir that holds most of our drinking water - too quickly?

The value of our water is far beyond what we pay for it. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "When the well's dry, we know the worth of water."
