Enterprise Ireland's "Big Ideas" is an annual showcase event which highlights the successful collaborations between higher education institutes, investors and state support.
Ten investor-ready start-up companies pitched their new technology solutions to investors at this year's event which took place at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin.
The "One to Watch Award" was presented to HookeBio for the outstanding pitch of the day. Each company had just four minutes to promote their innovations and business propositions to an invited audience made up of the Irish research and business communities.

In its eighth year, the Enterprise Ireland’s Big Ideas event illustrates the commercial potential of innovations from Ireland’s academic institutions across a range of sectors. This year’s Big Ideas came from the Medtech, Fintech, Agritech and Cleantech sectors and all have been through the initial process of getting their products or services ready before pitching their innovations to investors.
Enterprise Ireland has announced a new Competitive Start Fund (CSF) totalling up to €750,000 to support start-up activity in all sectors, including agri, manufacturing, lifesciences and renewables subsectors. The Fund which provides €50,000 in equity funding for each successful applicant will open for submissions on Wednesday 13 September and will close at 3pm, Wednesday 27 September 2017.
