You asked for it and Land Rover delivered! Actually, we're not sure if anyone REALLY asked for it, but nevertheless, Land Rover pulled the covers off its 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
This curious mish-mash of segments promises the all-road capability of a Land Rover, the high-style of the fashionable Range Rover Evoque and the top-down, sun-drenched driving experience of a convertible. It goes on sale summer of 2016 with prices starting around $50,000.
The Evoque has always been one of the least utilitarian luxury SUVs on the market, a situation made only worse by chopping off its roof. Nevertheless, when it comes to comparisons with other convertibles, the Evoque is actually well above-average. The back seat can be occupied by adults, and although the trunk oddly resembles an oven, it's at least a big one capable of holding a pair of fair-sized suitcases. The soft-top operates at speeds up to 30 mph and neatly folds above the cargo area and is its own tonneau cover. Unfortunately, its appearance with the top-up is far from flattering.
Like other 2017 Evoque models, the Convertible debuted at the LA Auto Show the new InControl Touch and Touch Pro touchscreen infotainment systems. They feature bigger screens and dramatically improved graphics, menu structure and response times.
