EMBO Fellowship Committee Chair (2010-2013) Jürgen Knoblich provides advice to applicants, PhD supervisors and host laboratory supervisors on how to successfully obtain an EMBO Fellowship.
The 2013 EMBO | EMBL Science and Society conference focussed on how the use of genomic information may benefit individual and public health. The interdisciplinary group of speakers presented the status of genetic and genomic research and discussed the ethical, legal, economic and societal implications as well as the practical challenges of implementing new knowledge into medical care.
Three speakers were interviewed: Dr. Jane Kaye consent issues; Prof. Timothy Caulfield on Direct-to-Consumer genetic testing; and Dr. Eric Green on the legacy of the Human Genome Project.
