Play is not just fun; it is the vehicle for learning. Children are born scientists. Everything they do is for the purpose of actively exploring the world in order to make sense of everything.
We like to think that DuPage Children’s Museum is inclusive to everyone all the time. To that end, we offer things that help families that need a little extra support. If a family is facing any or multiple barriers such as cognitive, physical, cultural, multi-lingual, or financial barriers, DCM has ways to help them come and play.
The Family Access Membership is a great example. It offers a steeply reduced-cost annual membership to those who qualify. The Museum has Third Thursdays, a monthly program that offers a quieter time for families who need less stimulation, along with special sensory activities and story times. Family Night Out is another monthly event where admissions are kept lower for families who have sensory processing disorders. It’s a perfect time for children to build confidence, enabling them to go out into other situations.
At DuPage Children’s Museum, we believe that everybody has the right to play and should have the ability to play because it’s such a powerful tool for learning and development. We need your help to continue to meet these families where they need us the most. Please consider a donation to DuPage Children’s Museum.
