Doxa’s Journey Program is a multi-day trekking experience conducted in multiple regions across Victoria, designed to build resilience, teamwork and positivity and a sense of belonging for young people from challenging life circumstances. Young people learn how to work together to overcome challenges, test their physical and mental boundaries, and experience the great outdoors. It’s also a chance to create a connection to country and learn new skills such as setting up a tent, cooking on a stove, map reading and learning about the local environmental and Indigenous culture.

This video follows a group of young people from Western English Language School as they grow, learn and develop on their Journey Program in Kooyoora State Park, near Bendigo. Many thanks to: Western English Language School, Perpetual Trust, Gandel Philanthropy and Dja Dja Wurrung Elders, Past & Present for their support and/or participation in this project.

Video produced and edited by Joseph Feil & Rodney Dekker
