David Blackbourn

I make raw, passionate, weird and uniquely wordy acoustic music.

I want to make you feel something, to connect, to share pain and joy and to highlight the illogical and the strange.

The words are my focus: personal, chaotic and confused, venomous, obsessive and bleak, but full of hope and naive wonder.

I write them every day and feel guilty if I don’t.

My influences are a mess: From Aimee Mann to Eminem, Kings of Leon to Frank Ocean.

I love real artists:

Fiona Apple, Arcade Fire, The Maccabees, Aesop Rock, Haim, Nick Drake, Macklemore, Patti Smith, Bombay Bicycle Club, Bonobo, Dr Dre, The Beatles, Kendrick Lamar, The Wallflowers, The Rolling Stones, Anni Rossi etcetera etcetera…

People say I sound like Jeff Buckley, Paolo Nutini and Tom Waits’ strange love child.

Feedback at my shows has been as positive as tears of joy and as negative as physical sickness, take from that what you will.
