Katharine Ogden ’21 learned to cross-country ski about the same time she learned to walk, and she started racing in first grade. The practice has paid off, as in only two years she has already become one of the most successful Nordic skiers in Dartmouth history.
At the NCAA National Championships on March 8, Ogden took home first place in the 15k classic ski race with a time of 46:25.7, defending her 2018 title. She was also named a semifinalist for the James E. Sullivan Award, which goes to the most outstanding amateur athlete in the U.S.
“What I like the most about skiing is definitely the people that I’ve met through the sport,” she says. “It’s so fun to race with such a strong team.”
