Red Leicester Choir and Leicester citizens singing "I Am A River" in solidarity with the people of Standing Rock in the United States. The choir and the citizens gave the song at an event that was held at the Secular Hall on December 8 as part of the 2016 Leicester Human Rights Arts and Film Festival. The event, which was organised by Leicester Friends of the Earth, explored the connection between climate change and human rights issues and movements.
At the end of the event, participants, organisers and attendees came together with the Red Leicester Choir to sing "I Am A River", and to send a message of ongoing support and solidarity to the people of Standing Rock.
Now in its third consecutive year, the Leicester Human Rights Arts and Film Festival aims to draw attention to human rights issues at home and abroad by facilitating a series of events that are free and open to all. It also aims to draw attention to Human Rights Day which is celebrated annually, across the world, on December 10.
