On March 19, 2015, the Cancer Support Community hosted an educational event to present the documentary, survey results and key findings from CSC’s Insight into Patient Access to Care in Cancer Project.
The goal of this project is to better understand patients’ experiences with accessing care. Patients were asked in a survey and through interviews about their experience with health care today. The survey focused specifically on:
- Access to and satisfaction with insurance
- Access to providers, including availability, time and discussions with providers
- Access to services, including those services deemed vital by the IOM 2008 in the report, “Cancer Care for the Whole Patient: Meeting Psychosocial Health Needs”
- Concern about direct costs of cancer and care
