The First and Second World Wars gave Canadian women an opportunity to take on new roles — working, volunteering and serving in uniform. World War Women shows how their contributions challenged society’s perceptions of women.

On May 8, 2005, the Canadian War Museum opened the doors of its new building. In the five years since then, nearly three million visitors have been able to admire its unique architecture and innovative exhibits.
