"Check Your Body at the Door" documents extraordinary underground club dancers and dances in NYC during the 1990s. Now an essential historical document, this one-hour film reveals the underground roots of House dance in America.

"Check Your Body at the Door" contextualizes a wide variety of House dance styles and follows a select group of freestyle dancers into the clubs and their everyday lives. Filmed in the streets, clubs, and in the studio, the dramatic movements and lines of their moving bodies are captured. In interviews, the dancers reveal this unique world and how it fits into their personal lives.
