Bula Vinaka (Welcome) everyone. My name is Ako and I am the Programme Coordinator for Community Centred Conservation (C3)'s Fiji Programme.
We work in North Fiji on a small, isolated island called Kia, which is surrounded by the third largest barrier reef system in the world, the Great Sea Reef. Our programme is centred on community-based management of natural resources and on Kia, we have recently embarked on a new project involving Conservation Ambassadors, or 'CAs' of Kia.
CAs are carefully selected key individuals from across the three villages on Kia and C3, through the kind provisions of the Conservation Leadership Programme or CLP, our funders, has been able to provide training in marine monitoring methods, raising awareness and actively involving the community in the conservation and management of their marine resources as well as outreach and education to the wider community. This week marks our second week in training of seagrass monitoring and this follows last week's module on mangrove monitoring methods.
You can watch this space for more videos of our work, interviews with Conservation Ambassadors, updates from C3 staff, partners, academic advisors and community members of Kia, or you can visit our website www.c-3.org.uk for more information.
Vinaka (Thank you) and have a fantastic week. Moce (Goodbye).http://www.c-3.org.uk/http://www.conservationlead...
