On April 7, 1915, the Winifred Masterson Burke Relief Foundation opened its doors as a unique facility where patients could convalesce after sustaining an illness or injury. Over the century that followed, Burke has evolved into a highly respected rehabilitation center. In 2015, we commemorate the Burke Centennial. The number of patients who have been helped and healed over the century we celebrate is incalculable. However, thanks to our forbearers, our contemporaries and those who will carry on Burke's mission in the future, the Burke legacy of reducing disability will continue for many years to come.
