The Beneteau story began more than 130 years ago when Benjamin Bénéteau started building fishing trawlers in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, France. Today, Beneteau has grown to over twenty manufacturing facilities in France, Italy, Brazil and the United States and has become the worldwide leader in sailboats manufacturing. The Beneteau product lines now include sailboats Oceanis, First and Sense, and powerboats Gran Turismo, Swift Trawler, Barracuda and Monte Carlo.
The Great Loop, also referred to as the Great Circle Route, is the circumnavigation of Eastern North America. The entire journey typically ranges between 4,500 and 7,500 miles depending on the selected course through the Great Lakes, Canadian Heritage Canals, Intracoastal Waterways, inland rivers and Atlantic Ocean. With Beneteau's recent launch of the Swift Trawler range, it was decided that the Swift Trawler 34, a performance based cruising boat with impressive fuel efficiency, be put to the test - around the Great Loop.
And so, on May 15th 2012 the Swift Trawler 34, appropriately named The Greatest Loop, embarked on a 5 month journey around The Great Loop.
