In February 2013, Boulder County Housing and Human Services collaborated with a Boulder-based marketing firm, Pivot Communication, to create a new logo, messaging, and ultimately a new public outreach campaign around the services we provide. This video highlights the process we and Pivot followed to get there.
As BCDHHS Director Frank Alexander noted, "For this campaign, we settled on a tagline for our department that we think clearly defines who we are and what we believe: 'Hope for the future, help when you need it.' We want people to know we are here and ready, and that they should come to us when they need us. We also want to deliver a simple message that helps them feel more comfortable coming to us for assistance."
On the logo and the coming public outreach campaign, he noted, "In the end, our choice was fairly clear: a clean look, simple messaging, and the use of distinctive icons that can be applied in many ways, from ads to brochures to outdoor media. As you'll see, our new logo reflects our "Any Door is the Right Door" approach to integrated services delivery."
Frank also expressed his gratitude to the range of people who were integral to the project: "Many of our staff provided valuable input into this campaign, as did some of our community partners and clients. Among other things, we held focus groups, conducted internal review meetings, and went through many design options. We're also deeply grateful for the crucial input and review we received from our county commissioners and our Housing and Human Services Advisory Committee members."
Over the next several months, our outreach campaign will roll out throughout Boulder County, including in our lobbies, print and outdoor advertising (also buses and bus stops), outreach to the press, social media, and on our website.
