The unbound creativity of artists brings us delight in our everyday lives!
To facilitate exchanges between artists and share their innovative ideas with the public, we have invited the talented creators who have joined the "Ignite! Hong Kong Art Portfolio Collection" to give lightning talks at Oi!. Lasting around 5 minutes for each session, the talks offer the artists the opportunity to introduce their works to the public and to share their experience of art creation, while the audience can exchange ideas with them in the free and open atmosphere at Oi! and enrich their knowledge of local art at the same time.
Presented in the Lightning Talks are 37 creatives from all walks of life, deploying a diversity of media for creative expression. This playlist showcases all lightning talks for your easy browsing.
Outside the museum, what could art look like in our daily lives?
The Art Promotion Office has dedicated a great deal of effort to implementing the Artists in the Neighbourhood Scheme (AIN) since 2000 with the aim of bringing art into different sectors of the community. By displaying distinctive works by noted local artists in a variety of venues, we want to give the general public the chance to enjoy top-class exhibitions of different art forms in their own neighbourhood.
To celebrate the kick-off of AIN V, selected artists and art group will display representative works at the Launching Exhibition. Participating artists include Ivy Ma, who explores the transformation of film and literature into lyrical visual expression, Foon Sham, who uses installations and sculptures to interact with viewers and express his concern about cancer disease, and Lam Tung-pang, who paints with a vocabulary of writing to present local and global environmental issues. Also teaming up for the kick-off are Superb Meaningless Invention Group, which includes around 20 local artists who take a creative approach to inventing different products, Rosanna Li, who presents ceramics inspired by Dao De Jing (elaborates the way) and conveys her thoughts on the mode of consumption in our society in her collection of paper shoe-offerings, and Ou Da-wei, who manipulates a variety of Chinese calligraphic styles to configure a new visual language that can represent the profundity of Chinese culture.
Following the Launching Exhibition, the AIN exhibition series featuring the selected artists and group will tour a number of local districts, and we are working with several different partners to arrange venues and organise a variety of related educational programmes.
