«Not all were born to do great things. Not all are worthy to be mentioned in the history books and their names to be repeated throughout eternity. But for a select few, those who were born under a guardian star, that very immortality is within reach.»
'Overture' is Wötan: the Untold Story's first single, working as an instrumental introduction and setting the mood for the rest of the album. Four and a half minutes long, it features a full symphonic orchestra and its recurring motifs will reappear often on the following tracks.
Wötan: the Untold Story is Andres Guazzelli‘s first long-playing album, following his debut EP “Wish You Could Hear” (2013), based on the novel of the same name.
Its main plot revolves around the tribulations and struggles of its main character, Wötan, a germanic tribal warrior whose Achillean quest for eternal glory and inmortality jeopardizes his tribe’s own survival, when the world as he knows it is on the verge of disappearing. The story, first written in 2004, takes place mainly in continental Europe, more specifically in the northern city of Aachen and the southeasternmost region of Bavaria circa 783 AD during Charlemagne’s rule of the Frankish realms.
