The ProAna Movement remains one of the most controversial and highly-debated phenomena of our time. Years ago, when I first learned about ProAna, my original question was: "Why?" That question led to many others, and seeking answers has driven my studies since that time.
In my "Understanding The ProAna Movement" series, I will be sharing findings from 10+ years researching this subject. In Part I, the three most significant precipitating factors leading to the development of ProAna are discussed, including a look at the history of (and problems with) modern anorexia treatment. In Part II, historical information regarding medicalized support communities online; the evolution of ProAna in terms of the online dynamic, and the extensive efforts of condemnation and censorship are discussed.

GLOBAL OLYMPIC DOLPHINS CAMPAIGN PLAYLIST This Playlist contains videos regarding events and information about the Global Olympic Dolphins Campaign. VISIT US at our Website: http://www.olympicdolphins.com! :) PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE OUR PETITION! http://www.causes.com/actions/1724723?recruiter_id=525309... We are an ever-growing community of people devastated by the brutal massacre and abduction of dolphins and small whales in Taiji, Japan (and the murder of protected and endangered great whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary) by Japanese whalers. We come from many Nations all over the world, united by our passionate opposition of the murder and captive keeping of cetacea. Our first event, Global Taiji Action Day for Dolphins -- Olympic Challenge, took place on Feb 22, 2013. Our next event will be on June 29, 2013. PLEASE JOIN US and campaign against Japan's Tokyo Host City bid for the 2020 Summer Games! GLOBAL EVENT FINDER: https://www.facebook.com/events/198864223593289/ About our first event: Over 40 peaceful protests were held worldwide outside the Consulates and Embassies of Japan to raise awareness of the brutal daily slaughter & captive trade of migrating Dolphins and small whales. There were simultaneous demonstrations globally on February 22, 2013. An Online Protest in solidarity with us was also created for those that could not attend an event in person. The voices of the world were heard before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) visited Japan on March 4-7, 2013 for facilities inspection and evaluation for consideration of the Tokyo 2020 Host City bid. The IOC was not left to turn a blind eye to the globally-condemned dolphin slaughter and captive trade of cetacea, which are sanctioned by Japan's Government. About our upcoming second event: JOIN US ON JUNE 29, 2013! We will be holding protests in public places, this time not restricted to locations of Japanese Embassies and Consulates. We will again be commanding the attention of the International Olympic Committee before their meeting to deliberate and choose Host City for the 2020 Summer Games. IMPORTANT! We do NOT support anti-Japanese comments or materials. This is NOT in any way a Movement to incite hatred or a boycott of Japan. While many of us feel strong emotions in response to the atrocities committed against cetacea in Japan, we MUST stay focused on the individuals and institutions which are responsible for perpetuating the horrific practices of dolphin and whale massacres or captures. NO profanity or negativity towards Japanese citizens will be tolerated. Our event is aimed at the people in POWER who have the ability to end the Dolphin & Whale Hunt, but as yet have chosen not to!
