Panelists Mr. Sandol Khalaf, Executive Director of Shanta Link Shantalink.org, Mr. Mohamed Mohamud, Executive Director of the Somali American Parent Association (SAPA) mnsapa.org, and Ms. Bukola Oriola, Executive Director of The Enitan Story enitan.org, visited ADC for the first of its Community Conversations on Thursday, February 25, 2016. They spoke of the challenges facing New American communities as they learn and understand the American way of life, and answered questions from the audience. This early morning event featured breakfast food from Afro-Deli and was sponsored and made possible by HIAS and The Linking Communities Project.
These community discussions were developed as the ADC Business Breakfast Roundtable in 2010 to better facilitate dialogue in our community, connect individuals who otherwise may not cross paths, and to increase knowledge of institutions, systems, laws, tools, etc. for a more informed community. Since its inception, the roundtable has been a great success, drawing together people from all backgrounds and touching on numerous topics -- prompting us to rename them ADC Commerce and Community Conversations.
We hope you will contribute to these important discussions by joining us at these events, which are normally held the third Third Thursday of every month at the African Development Center Main Office in Minneapolis.
