The FMs - transpunk | synthgirl | maximalists 

The FMs are a bastion of queer music, exuding sex and style through their politically-charged pop missives and pioneered the genre of babygirl synth punk-rock. With a lineup of all queer, trans and nonbinary musicians from NYC & Upstate New York, they seek to undermine the patriarchy with ferocious love. Bearing a motto “Soft is Subversive,” The FMs bring a punk-rock barbie girl candy fever dream aesthetic with neon lights and large balloons to their now legendary live shows. They have been featured in Billboard Magazine, The NY Daily News, GLAAD, and The Showtime Network. 

While formed in 2017 by Matte Namer (she/they) and Frankie Rex (they/he), who met in high school in New York City, in 2022 Rex tragically passed away from suspected fentanyl poisoning. The band reformed in 2024 featuring Nico Scollard (Drums)(he/they), Bubba Crumrine (Guitar, vox) (they/them), Athena Brylinsky (Synths, Sax, Vox)(she/her), Matte Namer (Vox, Bass)(she/they).
