http://www.stebnitzbuilders...... - Al and Carol Allison sit down with us and discuss their kitchen remodel project design and their experience working with Stebnitz Builders and the team.
The Allison’s home was built back in 1953 with a 2nd and a 3rd addition eventually added on making the house feel segmented. They wanted a kitchen design with an open concept with an island so they had a place for friends and family to gather. In the end Stebnitz Builders was able to make a small space feel very open and give the Allison’s exactly what they were looking for.
What do you do when your favorite hobby is too far away to enjoy all the time? Move closer to your hobby, or bring it back home with you?
Our client, has a passion for cars. And if you love cars like he does, you want to have them right with you to look at, tinker with, clean up, maintain, show off and even drive once-in-a-while. But, if you don't have room for them and they're stored somewhere else, you're stuck thinking about them while you're at home. Our client had had enough. He wanted his cars where they belonged. HOME!
And so our journey began. Our client didn't want a simple pole shed or out-building for his cars. He wanted his cars to have a home that could be incorporated in to style of his existing home, keeping the beauty that his home brought to the the property in tact.
Follow our video diary of the progress of our clients' dream garage as we work to help him bring his cars back to where they belong.

Starting with a redesign of the back yard, including retaining walls and other drainage features, the home was then ready for a radical facelift. We redesigned the entry of the home with a timber frame portico/entryway. The entire portico was built with the authentic artistry of a mortise and tenon framing method. We also designed and installed a new deck and patio facing the lake, installed an integrated driveway and sidewalk system throughout the property and added a splash of evening effects with some beautiful architectural lighting around the house.
After performing a full home energy audit on this pre-1900's home, we found exaclty what we expected -- several issues that were contributing to the home's poor energy efficiency and general discomfort for the family. After replacing four windows, the water heater, water softener, adding much-needed insulation in the attic and basement, sealing all basement window openings, caulking vents, replacing bathroom vent fans, weatherstripping and caulking old windows and doors not being replaced at this time and adding foam gaskets to all exterior outlets and switches the home's heat loss dropped by over 20%!
