Marta Conner's daughter Caroline suffers from a debilitating neurological disorder called Rett Syndrome. She cannot walk, talk, or use her hands, but she is bright and full of love. Caroline is alive because of Medicaid. The medications, the equipment, and the nursing care have helped her family manage Caroline's severe disability and would not be possible without the federal program’s support. Marta lives in Clifton, Va. with her daughter and husband.
