Becoming Local-ish

We are Jeff & Mindy and we left the familiar behind to see what life looks like when you stop simply visiting a place and start learning how to live there.

Right now, that means Mexico City.

We’re exploring CDMX one neighborhood at a time, from Centro and Reforma to Condesa, Roma Norte and beyond. We visit the famous sights, but we’re just as interested in everyday life: neighborhood restaurants, markets, local events, getting around, finding places to live, meeting people and discovering the rhythms of the city.

We’re not travel experts and we’re not pretending to be locals. We’re Americans living abroad, learning as we go and sharing the experience as it actually happens: great food, unexpected discoveries, mistakes, cultural differences, adventures and ordinary days.

Mexico City is just the beginning. Expect more of Mexico, coastal adventures, food, culture, fishing, outdoor life and eventually new countries.

New places. Real people. Real life.
