Richelle Spence

Brisbane based artist Richelle Spence has been developing and refining her practice and professional exhibition portfolio for over 12 years. Spence has created a personal process methodology which allows her to proactively navigate the pathways between the worlds of performance/installation art and community from educational and empowering platforms. Her performance art and installation work explores the relationship of ritual and connectedness, challenging the audience to reconsider themes such as identity, displacement, justice and human rights creating through a site-specific lens. Her community work’s primary focus on environment, arts and health, specialising in working with Indigenous, children, youth, disadvantaged and disabled communities. Spence’s practise raises awareness and promotes sustainable living by creating art from waste and the use of celebratory community performance.
