EU Prize for Women Innovators

EU Prize for Women Innovators
The European Commission launched this contest to reward women innovators who had achieved outstanding innovations and brought them to market.
The prize aims to inspire and raise awareness of the need for more women innovators and entrepreneurs.
The contest was open to all women who had at some stage participated in the EU Framework Programmes. An independent panel of judges from business and academia examined the entries and selected the three winners. The first prize was €100 000, the second prize €50 000 and the third prize €25 000.
The prize was designed by the French artist Mireille Bailly-Coulange. A "Sculptor of light", she created a new method for engraving Altuglas (acrylic glass).
