What is Natural Yard Care?

Natural yard care works with nature to create beautiful yards. They are easier to care for and healthier for families, pets and wildlife. It’s also about making choices that protect our local environment by reducing the use of harmful chemicals. Follow our natural yard care tips to save time and money while protecting the health of Puget Sound. Small actions make a big difference!

Work Smarter, Not Harder!

Create a healthy lawn by working with natural cycles and conditions in your own yard. Get results by following six easy natural lawn care steps:
1. Mow higher, mow regularly, and leave clippings on the lawn.
2. If needed, fertilize in September or May with a “natural organic” or slow-release fertilizer.
3. Water deeply, but less frequently. One inch a week.
4. Improve poor lawns with aeration, overseeding and top dressing with compost.
5. Avoid using “weed and feed” and other pesticides – use less toxic alternatives.
6. Practice natural lawn care.
