Originally, the excellent "Duke It Out In D.C." expansion pack for "Duke Nukem 3D" from 1997 did not feature its own soundtrack. Just using the standard tracks of the episode 3 slot in which it was placed, I always felt that it would have deserved more. Therefore, I decided to do something about it.
Back in 2013, I approached Jimmy with this project in order to replace my initial attempt to provide a custom soundtrack for "Duke D.C." with a more original approach. While my previous track selections had been somewhat fitting, they were still missing this unique touch that one would only achieve when coming up with something completely new instead of just randomly quoting from various existing game soundtracks.
Jimmy was keen to write some material for another iconic set of levels that was lacking in original music of its own - his "Plutonia MIDI Pack" and "Revolution! MIDI Pack" community projects he had previously headed on Doomworld sought to achieve the same thing - fill the musical void in a famous levelset with creative input from composers who had played the levels, and furthermore to establish a resource of musical material for future modders to work with. I cited the Harmony MIDI Pack to be what Jimmy should strive for regarding the project's structure and quality.
Needless to say, I am highly pleased with the impressive outcome of this endeavor and hope you guys will all enjoy listening to these tracks, regardless whether you use this with the "Duke It Out In D.C." addon (which you should at least try) or not.
My deepest gratitude goes to Jimmy who did not stop improving his work until both of us were completely satisfied with the results. My ideas regarding the general direction of the project couldn't have been realized any better!
