With this project, JOAQUÍN LA HABANA combines original West African traditions with spiritual rituals and the Cuban theater and combines the duality of the sexes with the androgynous qualities of the gods. From the metamorphosis of the cosmic powers, the four elements that form the components of his modern performance art emerge: spirituality and reason, archaic and postmodern, soul and matter, life and after life, they all unveil and unite. The sensuality of the expression opens up new ways for the public to perceive reality.
JOAQUIN LA HABANA's artistic work stands for the synthesis of tradition and avant-garde. An important part of his presentation is the overcoming of the established boundaries, by creating flexibility and flow between different social groups. To this end, he uses intensive experience through his education in contemporary dance, ballet, theater and singing, which he combines with the centuries-old tradition of Santería Shamanism, which forms his spiritual foundation.
