Joshua Zucker, "Intro to Problem Solving"

In this series of videos, Joshua Zucker (Julia Robinson Math Festivals) leads a Math Teachers' Circle session titled "An Introduction to Problem Solving." Josh presents a problem that seems almost impossibly difficult, but teachers discover many ways to approach it by considering smaller, simpler problems.

Math Teachers' Circles (http://www.mathteacherscircle.org) are professional communities of middle school math teachers and mathematicians who meet regularly to work on rich math problems. Our goal is to help middle school math teachers confidently incorporate open-ended, authentic mathematical problem solving in their teaching.

This video was filmed in summer 2014, when 30 mathematicians and math teachers from across the country came to a "How to Run a Math Teachers' Circle" workshop at the American Institute of Mathematics in Palo Alto, CA.
