They are bastards because of how often they like to point out how much more serene their race is than any others to the point of being insufferable.
That said, their claims to fame are not without merit. What happens when you take happiness bonuses, unity bonuses and across-the-board productivity bonuses to their logical conclusions? What happens when you beat the drum of joy louder and prouder than any other race in the galaxy?
