Laretta Houston

The Visual Philosopher
A creative soul who sees beyond aesthetics — someone who uses visuals as a means to process life, emotion, identity, and the human experience.

Laretta Houston is a Los Angeles-based photographer and director specializing in advertising, fashion, and beauty. She’s been in the business for over 20 years. She has worked with clients ranging from celebrities to advertising campaigns. She is also known for being the first Black American woman to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine. She has been grateful for the opportunity to meet creative people in the industry who, like her, are challenging the limits of photography and breaking new ground for storytelling through the art of photography.
