Hi all! I'm going to skip tonight's video to give my eye a rest from the computer. You may have seen on my Instagram stories that I had a little mishap a few days ago whereby I somehow managed to underestimate my own strength opening a protein powder packet, and shot powder into my eye while making a smoothie. It has taken a few days of rinsing and avoiding contacts to get it to calm down. I was ready to head to the eye doc today but I've turned a corner, and I think another day or two in my glasses and off the computer and I'll be back to normal. (I will of course go to the doc if this doesn't resolve quickly!) Today is feeling much better though. Fingers crossed for Friday - I've got a foundation review filmed. I just need to edit it! =D Thanks for your patience!! Hope you're all having an excellent week!

What a disaster on Raw Beauty Kristi's launch! I've been at it for nearly 3 hours and the few times I've made it to the payment page, I crash upon placing the order. Shame on PUR for not securing proper bandwidth and technology to host this launch. It's not rocket science. Penny pinching will get you every time. I'm so sad for Kristi. 2 hours 51 minutes... I can't sit here anymore trying to get this palette. I want to support her, but PUR shadows aren't even that good and this is just a disgrace of a launch. I hope she's got some sort of clause in her contract that this botch won't financially impact her returns on the products.

Hi all!! Who's planning on trying to get the new PUR x Kristi (RawBeautyKristi) collab on Sunday? I am! I'm so happy for her. She's always seemed like a very real, genuine, kind person, and it's nice to see some happiness in the YouTube beauty world rather than the drama. Kristi did a reveal video on her channel yesterday and the eyeshadow palette and lashes launch tomorrow (Sunday July 12) at noon eastern on the PUR web site. :)

Hey everybody! I just want to say thank you all for hanging out in the comments with me tonight. It's been a rough day on this end and chatting makeup with you - well, it has really helped me get through this one. I appreciate you. Thank you. If you missed the giveaway announcement, check the description box of the Friday June 5 foundation follow up video. It's open until next week Friday night. Take care of yourselves and each other out there. <3

Hi everybody, I plan to keep up with my usual posting schedule on YouTube and keeping it about beauty topics, because I need makeup and all of you to keep me going day to day. But a good portion of every day has been spent listening, learning, and taking what actions I can to bring about change. I won't overwhelm my GOOW accounts with non-beauty content, but I may share things from time to time that I feel are worth your time. This is one of them. "You have to honestly look in the mirror, knowing that this will be remembered. Ask yourself, 'How do you want to remember your role in this?' And with that, I say, 'Let's go put on our f***ing boots, because it's time to march." ~cn

Hello, everybody! Tonight's video is uploading now. It is an hour-long get-ready-with-me chatting about some things... as you have probably figured out by now, I keep things light on my channel. We don't do drama and we keep it about the makeup and beauty stuff. We're amidst a tough time in the world right now, and this channel is one of my coping mechanisms - one of my venues to take a mental break from the world. Many of you have told me you look at it the same way. I do feel the need, however, to address something here that I didn't discuss in the video. Today marks a week since George Floyd was murdered at the hands of US police. I did not discuss this in the video because I have not processed the horror of it and the resulting riots and violent racial divisions to the extent that I can speak coherently about it. I'm furious and disgusted and honestly have not yet figured out how I can best be an agent of change and not just a keyboard warrior. Black lives matter. Black people matter. Black businesses matter. Black hopes and dreams matter. Black opportunities matter. Black voices matter. In the last few years, I've been shook to my core by the disturbing and often horrific things I've seen in this country and how mistaken I was at what I thought was progress and enlightenment. So, please don't mistake my silence for complacency; I'm working through things so that when I speak, I can speak with clarity and impact and not distract from my messages with the emotions that I haven't been able to get a handle on just yet. I appreciate all of you, and I hope you are doing well and staying safe and healthy on your end. Take care of each other. <3

Hey Everybody! Hope you're all staying well out there. I'm running a day behind on tonight's video. I'll post tomorrow (and Friday... and Saturday with another MUAC). It's finals week and all of the last minute project troubleshooting and final grading is taking longer than usual due to working remotely. Hang in there and I'll catch up here tomorrow! Thanks!!! =D

Some of you may know I'm a huge Dave Matthews Band fan (56 shows, so mid-range obsession). He played a quarantine concert the other night, and debuted a song he'd just written about everything that's going on. It's beautiful and comforting and heartbreaking all at once. I thought I'd share it with you guys in case it helps you feel a bit more connected in these circumstances like it does for me. <3 Here's a good recording of it. "When the storm is over, picking up the pieces of everyday... Memories in picture frames, trying to put the inside out and the outside in. Singing from the window... walking down the hall, nowhere to go. 'Be good to see you, I suppose, when it's all said and done. This is how we keep holding on, all the days, all day long..."

Happy leap day, everybody! I realized today that I totally missed my channel anniversary :-D lol I think it was Feb 20 (4 years!) That is so wild to me! It definitely doesn't feel like it's been 4 years. A huge THANK YOU to all of you that follow my channel, from the newbies through the OG'ers that have seen me through every hair color, every sun spot and wrinkle that has come (and gone in some cases!), every weight change... all the things. I appreciate all of you and one of the happiest parts of my day is hanging out in the comments with you guys. I'm working on putting together a giveaway (I'll probably have it coincide with Foundation Review Number 200) so keep your eyes peeled for that. Here's to many more years of skin care, makeup love, and a general ol' happy good time! THANK YOU!!! Here's a picture what I did today - went on a Jeep ride fundraiser for a local kiddo fighting late stage Lyme disease. It was a chilly but beautiful day to take the Jeep out. (Thumbs up for heated seats!!) Can you find my Jeep??

Hey everybody! I published tomorrow's foundation review a day early, because I'm traveling this weekend and wouldn't be near a computer to make sure it properly posted tomorrow! So enjoy your Friday Foundation Fix on Thursday :) There is a slight chance that I will have to publish Monday's video a day late on Tuesday, so it all works out. I've got it filmed but I might not be able to get it edited before I leave tomorrow. My flight got moved to 6 hours earlier and it messed me all up! I'll still be on Instagram so you can find me over there this weekend. Enjoy the Beauty Bakerie review! =D -- Shelly
