  • Artis Pabriks on Trump, Russia and martial arts

    61 views 3 days ago
In this episode of our "Over A Beer" video series, EurActiv’s Brian Maguire chats with Latvian MEP, Artis Pabriks, the European Parliament’s chief rapporteur on CETA, Europe’s controversial trade agreement with Canada.

Before entering the European Parliament, Pabriks served as Latvia’s Defence Minister. He is one of several prominent Europeans blacklisted by Moscow and forbidden to enter Russian territory.

Pabriks was also Parliament’s lead negotiator on a proposal to create a new EU border force and coast guard.

In this interview, Pabriks leans on his interest in chess and martial arts to explain his political philosophy, and why Europe should ask Latvia strategy when handling Russia.
