Edward DeShazer | Homeroom Attendance

Edward DeShazer turned suspensions and expulsions into the foundation for a career spent helping schools turn themselves around. He earned an athletic and academic scholarship to college and even got accepted into the doctoral program at an ivy league school.

He's a husband, father, and CEO of GHTCA, a K-8 school in Milwaukee, where he took the school from one star to four stars in six years. That work has earned him recognition as a Notable Minority Executive by BizTimes in 2021, a BIPOC Executive in 2023, and 2026's Top School Executive Director.

On Homeroom Attendance, Edward sits down with educators and school leaders to talk culture, leadership, and what it actually takes to close the gap between where a school is and where it could be. He also serves on several nonprofit boards and speaks at schools, conferences, and universities nationwide.
