This is an abstract acrylic painting, done in the DPM (Dropped Paint
Methodology) style. No brushes, no palette knives, nor any other
instrument touched the canvas while the paint was being applied. No
corrections to the paint are ever made, so part of the intensity of
creating a DPM painting is that wherever the paint falls, is part of
the finished product.
Once the paint is dry, I added charcoal to create shading and depth.
The entire painting is varnished.
I find DPM paintings to be absolutely fascinating, and a crazy cool
marriage between beauty and chaos. Up close, in a micro perspective,
you have a total lack of structure and chaos. From afar, you have a lot
of structure and beauty. And then the painting goes one step further,
and like life itself, what once was chaos, that turned into beauty,
again degrades into chaos as the paint drips off the side of the canvas.
