The Deep Sea Diver and the Little Girl Giant puppets took over the city of Montreal to tell a story that takes place over several days. On day 2 the life-like niece-uncle pair woke up around the Place des Arts and took separate walks along the city streets to meet up again at the CBC/Radio-Canada building in embrace for the night.
Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets the see the larger than life pair explore Montreal. The Deep Sea Diver measures is 15-metre (50-foot) tall and the Little Girl Giant is 9-metre (30-foot) tall. The giants are part of a performance troop, Royal de Luxe, from Nantes France and this event marks there first appearance ever in Canada.
The marionettes are moved with a mix of mechanics, hydraulics and people pulling strings. It takes about 30 people to work each marionette to help them move.
This is one of many shows and events that will take place this year in Montreal for the city's 375th anniversary.
