The University of Central Florida is a recent example of how students and staff can come together to create a recovery community.
The collegiate recovery community at UCF grew from recovering students’ desire for peer support on campus.Today, the CRC at the University of Central Florida provides roommate-matching services that allow recovering students to room with other students in recovery.
The CRC sponsors multiple on-campus 12-step meetings that draw more than 40 participants each week. It also supports Sober Knights, a student group for any student who wishes to participate in alcohol and drug-free social events.
The University of Central Florida has a partnership with Advanced Recovery Systems and the collegiate recovery community at UCF is working to be the flagship of what a collegiate recovery can and will be.
