Mt. Rainier Railroad and Logging Museum

The journey begins in the small town of Elbe, Washington. Visitors feel like they've stepped back in time as the steam train transports passengers out of town and slips into a thick forest, travels along a mountain stream, crosses the glacial fed Upper Nisqually River and arrives at our museum. Our route covers 14 miles between Elbe and Mineral on a round trip two hour excursion that includes a stop at our museum. Weekly excursions May through October with special events scheduled throughout the year. Visitors at the museum can explore the world's largest collection of steam logging locomotives and a growing number of exhibits. Museum admission is included with train ticket purchases. Railroad logging camps were communities, where everyone - male and female, young and old - had a job to do. The exhibits give you a little peek into the daily lives, tools, and technologies at work in these movable villages. They were a significant part of Pacific Northwest History.
